Historic Name STUART HOTEL
Description of Significance THE STUART HOTEL WAS BUILT IN 1901-1903 DURING THE EARLY PERIOD OF GROWTH IN THIS FORMER NATIVE AMERICAN SETTLEMENT. ITS GUESTS WERE PRIMARILY RAILROAD AND OTHER TRANSIENT WORKERS. BESIDES BEING A BOARDING HOUSE, THE OWNERS ALSO OPERATED A CAFE THAT SERVED THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. THE HOTEL IS A TWO STORY RECTANGULAR BUILDING WITH A HIPPED ROOF. THERE ARE FOUR GABLED DORMERS. THE ORIGINAL WOOD SIDING REMAINS, AS DO SOME OF THE ORIGINAL WOOD WINDOWS, ALTHOUGH MANY ON THE FIRST FLOOR HAVE BEEN BOARDED UP. LISTED IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER, 10/7/1982.
